Who Is This For?

Employees with little or no SQL experience that are interested in learning the fundamentals of using SQL to interact with relational databases.

Any prerequisites?
  • Basic computer skills (Internet navigation, managing files, troubleshooting).
  • Familiarity with how data is stored in programs like Microsoft Excel.
  • Can dedicate 4-6 hours of study per week and are motivated to learn!
What will I be able to do after this Course?
  • Use basic SQL syntax to interact with data stored in a database.

    Course Overview

    Sprint 1: Introduction to SQL
    - Learn database fundamentals and use SQL operations and functions to interact with data.
    - Project: Help an airline increase ticket sales by using SQL to analyze data and make a recommendation on how to run a marketing promotion.
    Sprint 2: Querying Multiple Tables
    - Use JOINs to combine data from multiple tables for analysis.
    - Project: Choose the optimal flight routes and services to offer during a fixed promotional period by joining tables, aggregating the data, and performing analysis.
    Sprint 3: Cleaning Your Data
    - Use SQL to clean and re-structure messy data for analysis.
    - Project: Transform a dirty dataset and analyze the results to help an airline choose whether to expand operations.
    Sprint 4: Capstone Project
    Put your SQL skills to the test by helping the airline choose which routes and services to offer at launch. Using your querying and analytical skills, you’ll make your case and provide evidence to support your recommendation.

    We are excited that Modal now offers a direct bill payment option for Booz Allen employees. The direct bill payment option enables employees to enroll in learning opportunities with no upfront costs.

    This payment option will require the employee to sign a Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) agreement with Modal to release grades/completion to Booz Allen to satisfy the FlexEd Program completion requirement. Note, Modal may also be used for the FlexEd Program reimbursement payment option.
