Who Is This For?

This is a beginner course aimed at non-data professionals that are interested in developing a foundational skill set for data analysis.

Any prerequisites?
  • Familiar with data fundamentals, such as the difference between structured and unstructured data.
  • Familiar with how to read a data plan.
  • Familiar with data preparation and collection processes.
  • Knowledge of common Excel actions and functions to edit, sort, filter, validate, and manipulate data.
What will I be able to do after this Course?

Create a data analysis report describing meaningful data insights gathered from basic exploratory data analysis.

    This course is part of Modal's Data-Driven Decision Making Learning Path. Take this course individually or enroll in all three courses and take on a Capstone Project.
    This Course: Data Analysis Fundamentals
    Learn how data analysis produces meaningful insights. You'll explore different types of analysis and tools, review a data plan to select the right analysis method, and perform basic exploratory data analysis.
    Course 2: Statistics Essentials
    Learn about the fundamental concepts of statistics used to describe data. You will build a foundation in statistical thinking by exploring research methods and concepts like measures of center, normal distribution, sampling and visualizing data.
    Course 3: Data Analysis with Spreadsheets
    Combine your knowledge of statistics with built-in spreadsheet tools to visualize and analyze a dataset. You’ll practice calculating measures of spread, visualizing one or more variables, creating a random sample of a dataset, and more, all using a range of advanced spreadsheet formulas designed to enable rapid data analysis.
    Capstone Project
    Apply the skills you acquired on this Learning Path to solve a real-world data analysis challenge and earn your certificate.

    We are excited that Modal now offers a direct bill payment option for Booz Allen employees. The direct bill payment option enables employees to enroll in learning opportunities with no upfront costs.

    This payment option will require the employee to sign a Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) agreement with Modal to release grades/completion to Booz Allen to satisfy the FlexEd Program completion requirement.
